The 2018 Heaps Gay Street Party held in Marrickville was high on our want-list since we heard about last year's awesome inaugural 'tinnies and tunes' event! For us, it's an opportunity to capture queer-ass Sydney in full flight, in the light of day - gender bender hipsters rocking a frock or a one piece women's speedo and flower-power retro or 80's-flouro gals cheering on some seriously alternative performers. With an eclectic music scene from a bygone era dropped into a modern queerAF musical mind-fuck and a bit of hip hop while you're at it, the campery of it all just worked! No Britney here - well ok, maybe there was one Britney song but it totally worked, up against a radio edit of Yothu Yindi's "Treaty". With all the food stalls, we managed to stay the distance for almost the entire 8 hour set and we certainly hope to be back!
